Gamertag Format Checker
Paste a name, pick a platform, and see exactly whether its format qualifies: character count, character classes, case rules, separator rules — plus specific fixes when something doesn't. This is a format checker; availability is only ever confirmed on the platform itself.
This is a format checker, not an availability checker. Format validity means the name meets the platform’s documented length, character and case rules — availability can only be confirmed in the platform’s own account flow.
What gets checked
Each platform's rules are stored as versioned data: length bounds, allowed characters, forced case, separator permissions and special quirks — Discord's no consecutive periods, Roblox's single underscore, PlayStation's no leading or trailing hyphens. The checker runs your name through all of them and reports pass or fail with reasons.
Xbox is checked against the classic 12-character unique limit by default, with the 15-character Insider preview available as an explicit toggle.
Why we don't claim availability
A format checker tells you whether a name is structurally valid; availability is a live, account-level question only the platform can answer. Any site claiming to check availability for arbitrary names on Xbox or PlayStation is either using the official flow or guessing — and guessing dressed up as a check is worse than nothing.
For each platform we link the official place to claim or verify the name, so the two-step is quick: validate format here, confirm availability there.
